Dear Friend,

Your body has incredible healing powers, but it needs your support. While a healthy diet, regular exercise, and nutritional supplements are all important to keep your body functioning at its best, a healthy lifestyle includes more than just these things. From time to time, I’m going to share my tips for healthier living with you. I see them as key building blocks for true well-being.

1. Drink Up! I recommend 8 to 12 glasses of pure water every day. The bottom line is that we could all benefit from drinking more clean water. Water lubricates your joints and muscles, helps you feel full longer so you eat less, hydrates your skin, and keeps your vital organs functioning as they should. Pure, clean H2O is the healthiest “cure-all” out there.

2. Take a high-potency multivitamin. Recommended Daily Intakes (RDIs) cover the bare minimums. For optimal health, it’s important to maintain higher levels of vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and phytonutrients.

3. Avoid Sugar. Research shows that one of the biggest threats to our health is our high consumption of fructose, sucrose, and other forms of sugar. Replace it with stevia, a natural sweetener. Stevia is calorie-free and does not affect blood sugar levels.

4. Keep Blood Sugar Levels Under Control. Since the 1930s, numerous studies have shown that a high-fiber diet can help you maintain normal blood sugar levels, which is why I recommend that you make plant foods the mainstay of your meals. Eat lots of salads, green vegetables, beans, and legumes. Another small secret is that eating a modest amount of healthy fats and moderate portions of lean protein with each meal can help to “cancel out” high glycemic foods, even in a single dish! One of my favorite meals is a hearty salad with a nice piece of salmon on top. It’s an easy way to get a tasty serving of healthy fats, plenty of protein, and lots of low glycemic carbohydrates.

5. Get Moving! If the health benefits of exercise could be put in a pill, you would have perhaps the most powerful anti-aging medicine available. Regular physical activity supports virtually every system in your body, from your bones and muscles to your heart and cardiovascular system. What's more, some research suggests that for every hour of exercise, there is a two-hour increase in longevity.

I hope you found my tips for healthier living both educational and useful. Please feel free to share them with your friends and family!
